Dirt Series Round 5
California's Hot New Series travels to Racetown 395
April 19, 2013
The Dirt Series is a new style eight round MX/ATV/UTV racing series based in Southern California and presented by Triumph Motorsport. Since the Dirt Series is offering over $65,000 worth of cash and prizes and impressive contingency programs from GBC and STI that total over $20,000 the series grows with each round.
Racetown 395 in Adelanto, CA played host to this round, which was full of new faces and great racing. As riders arrived they were forced to deal with hot temperatures from the High Desert, but as the day went on the weather wasn't as bad as it had been and sure did allow for some great racing. Below are the highlights from round 5...
Jerry Maldonado aboard his Triumph-built Yamaha Raptor 250 raced in three classes - 450 Novice, Open 250 and Quad Open. This young man battled through six motos to get himself two first place finishes and a second place. The second place was only due to a second place. The runner up spot was only due to a rollover in the corner as he was leading the race. This 13 year old battled Raptor 700 and fully built 450s all day! Now that's heart! Great job kid!
Kayla Smith moved to the Prod. 1000 Class this past weekend and raced her built Rhino against the RZR XP's. It didnt take too long before she was around them. Shows that UTV racing isn't all about guys, this girl can drive!
A special prayer and get well soon goes out to Rick Ellsworth. This ATV racing warrior crashed really bad at practice and went home with two breaks in his femur. We wish you a quick recovery and we will see you soon!
Next round will be a high-speed Stadium-Style Race. It takes place on September 2nd in Victorville in San Bernardino County, call or check out the Dirt Series on line for more info!
