Beating the Odds Video Review

ImageSince the release of Quadtros Locos, the first ATV video, a few different video production companies have sprung up in the ATV industry. Most of the titles being released have been different interpretations of the same thing, — quads riding around to music. Don’t get us wrong, we’re not complaining, but when we heard that there would be a few never-been-done-before documentary films released this year we were excited to see something unique on the horizon.

Premis Industry’s fourth release is called “Beating The Odds”. The video offers viewers the ability to see what goes on in the lives of a few up and coming quad racers struggling to make it big in the world of ATV Motocross.

More Details Please
With a run time of 77 minutes, Beating The Odds follows rookie pros, Chad Wienen, and Josh Creamer as well as amateur/pro-am speedsters Cale Downen, Cody Grand and Sage Baker through the week leading up to the final round of the WPSA ATV championship.

Besides showing the daily grind of travel and machine maintenance that all privateers deal with, the movie delves into the personal struggle that each racer faces as they try to reach their personal goals at the series finale. It’s a story of triumph and tragedy as some of the riders meet their goals and others are left hoping for better luck next season. We’re happy to report that, of course, the movie delivers plenty of exciting on-track footage as well.

Hard work isn’t easy. Here Chad Wienen cools off after a long twenty minute pro moto. After viewing Beating the Odds you’ll be rooting for rookies and underdogs more than ever.

How did we like it?

In the beginning the movie got off to a bit of a slow start due to Mother Nature raining down on the first day of practice. As the video continued we found ourselves caught up the lives of privateer pro rookie, Chad Wienen and future pros Cale Downen, Cody Grant and Sage Baker. Now this is our kind of reality show! Beating the Odds really shows what it takes to win these days. The viewer is left with much respect for these riders and others like them.

Chasing a championship is not easy or cheap. If you’re wondering what it takes to become a professional ATV racer and what kind sacrifices these riders make, then you must see this video.

Beating the Odds concludes nicely, but we’re eager to see how the future pans out for these four talented riders next season. As for a possible part two, we wish that we could go back and see more of what led up to where Beating the Odds began. In short, we very much enjoyed this movie and we’re anxious to hear if there is indeed plans for a second part. Maybe Beating the Odds can turn into the Star Wars trilogy of ATVing if you will.

We’re told Premis rolled a lot of tape in the making of Beating the Odds. After a while the guys got used to the cameras and really opened up. Here Cody Grant is talking with someone as Premis shoots.

No factory mechanic here. “Do it yourself” is typical in the Pro-Am ranks. Here Sage Baker puts a new set of bars on his Alba Action Yamaha.

Beating the Odds Conclusion

We found Beating the Odds to be both refreshing and entertaining. In addition, we feel it will be a positive asset to the ATV racing industry as a whole.

And who knows, five years from now when perhaps one of these riders wins the pro title, you might want to pull this one from your collection, dust it off and remember what it was like back when they were still trying to beat the odds.
