Dalton Millican took his Number 25 Nitro Fish Ultimate Gear ATV to Sunday Creek in Millfield, Ohio, Saturday and Sunday. Continuing his pursuit of the Pro Am Production class of the ATV MX National Championship Series, the 19 year old used his experience to survive the weekend with “decent” results at the end of the day.
Millican began the weekend with a good start in Moto 1 of Pro Am Production, starting on the outside gate. At the start from that outside position, he got embroiled in a battle to the front with several other riders which put them near the back. From that point Millican had to methodically work his way back toward the front, managing a 10th place finish.
The Nitro Fish team made quick work of getting the bike ready for Moto 2. Millican began Moto 2 from the inside gate pick with a good start. Coming off the first turn he found himself in a battle for position that lasted throughout the race, finishing in 8th place.
At the end of the event Millican was matter of fact about the results, saying “With the conditions of the track and the gates I started from, I think we had a pretty good weekend. While the weekend could have been better, it felt good to get into that type of competition and survive in the top half of the field. We’re learning more and more each race and we definitely learned some things this weekend.”
Looking ahead to the next event on the schedule, Millican said, “I’m looking forward to getting to New York in two weeks with what we learned at Sunday Creek.” Millican’s next event on the schedule is the Unadilla track in New Berlin, New York, July 13-15.
Millican added, “I want to thank everyone that is supporting our program this year, because without that support, we could not be competing at this level, including Mark Pickens of MPE Motorsports, Kenny Koretsky and Nitro Fish, Parts Plus and all the Members of the Automotive Distribution Network, Jeff Maxey of Maximum Cycle, Jeff at Cernics, Mike and Nate Walsh of Walsh Race Craft, Micah MacDonough and Adam Lambert of Custom Axis, Dan at Dasa Racing, Neil Cowman of Hoosier Racing Tire, Wayne Hinson at Hinson Racing, Jen Rath of Rath Racing, Ian Harris at SSI Decals, Jason Rueckert of VP Racing Fuels, Bob Harris of K&N Filters, Dan Fisher of Lonestar Racing, Chris Harris of Fly Racing, Gary Meier of JE Pistons, Laurie Dunlap at WebCams, Larry Mills at DP Brakes, Colleen Asch at Asterisk, Kyle Sugiyama at KG, Bill at Quad Tech, Scott at Cometic Gasket, JoJo at Sidi and Ryan at Works Connection.
