The team headed west to the AMA Unadilla National to see what the Polaris Outlaws could do on the National scene against National riders, and managed to turn heads all weekend. Getting there Friday morning, we got unloaded and boys headed out to get some practice in. Cody had been here on a 90 a couple years ago, but neither Max nor Eddie had ever been here. Everybody got used to the track pretty quick and practice went by without any problems.
Saturday rolled around and Max was the first one out, coming off the line 3rd but would make contact with another rider and injure his knee and would fall back off the pace. Next out was Cody who would get out 5th and make his way up to the 2nd position where he would finish. Eddie up right after him would up the bar grabbing the first moto win of the day for the team. Eddie would head back out in his 2nd of three classes and pick up another moto win. It would then be Cody’s turn again and he would get out mid pack, and make his way through traffic and finish the moto 3rd. Eddie headed out for his final class of the day and would pick up yet another moto win. Max would had back out after icing his knee all day and would get out 3rd, make his way into 2nd behind a fellow rider from Argentina. He would fade back a couple spots and finish the moto 5th.
Sunday morning racing got started right away because there was talk about lots of rain coming. Max was first out again and jus used the moto to get time on the quad and some more track time because he was out of the running for a podium. Cody would be up and needed a moto win to take the overall after a 2nd place on Saturday and he did just that, took the moto and the overall, giving Team Southside and Polaris there first overall at a national in a couple years. While Cody was on the podium, Eddie left the gate and grabbed the moto and overall win, giving Polaris back to back moto wins and overalls. We had a few minute break before Eddie headed back out and won his 5th moto of the weekend and another overall. Max then headed out in his final moto of the weekend and finished 8th place. Then it was Cody again, and because his class had qualifiers and he finished 3rd in moto 1, he was going to need some help to get the overall. He went out and did he part winning the moto and everything aligned and he was able to win the overall as well. Eddie then went back out for his final moto of the weekend and finished 2nd place, for a 2nd overall.
It was a great weekend overall with 4 class wins and 7 moto wins. You can go on our facebook and check out all the Drift HD Camera footage that will be up there soon from the weekend.
