GBC Motorsports returns as an official event sponsor of the Brimstone Recreation White Knuckle Event presented by Yamaha. The annual Memorial Day weekend celebration draws racers and enthusiasts from across the country for the Wild Mountain Rampage and other attractions and events.

Brimstone Recreation’s big spring event, set for May 24-26, features a variety of fun activities for ATV and SXS riders, including the Pro Armor Moonshine Run, mud bogs, drag races, and guided rides through more than 300 miles of roads and trails. The White Knuckle event is always capped off with a performance by a country music artist, and this year Jamey Johnson will take the stage to wrap up a memorable weekend for all in attendance.

Team owner, Clint Roberts, had to sit this round out, but is looking forward to a strong Blingstar presence after the break.

Nick Nelson had a decent start and was in tenth at the end of lap one. He continued to push through the twenty one racer field. He had a few issues on the motocross section and dropped to twelfth for laps two and three, but put on a hard charge and moved to ninth physically on the track. Nelson took over the eight spot on the final lap and finished in tenth after adjusted time.

“My Blingstar RZR XP 900 worked well. My FOX Shocks were dialed in and my DWT Moapa’s were getting the perfect amount of traction. I am really looking forward to getting some testing done over the break and coming on strong at Pala,” regarded Nelson after the race.

The Blingstar Team has 7 weeks off before the next round of the WORCS series. The team plans to complete a montage of testing to their Polaris RZR XP 900’s, while adding all new, FOX 2.5 shocks, LSR Stage 2 Kits and newly built motors by none other than Allen Knowles of CT Racing. The team is excited to announce that CT Racing has come aboard to do the honors of building us our race motors. CT Racing, has built Championship motors, world wide for over 20 years and has state of the art technology to get the most horsepower out of 4 stroke motors.

“We are really stoked to get the RZR’s dialed in for the second half of the season. We have a lot of great sponsors and a solid crew helping us. I know that both Nick and I will come on strong this summer, now that are SxS’s are as competitive as the rest of the field” said Clint Roberts, team owner and driver.

The Blingstar team has had a solid year thus far and Nick Nelson currently holds third place in the SxS Pro Production championship point’s chase. Clint Roberts is tied for eleventh. The pair plans to better their rankings as they come on strong at the sixth round at Pala Raceway in Pala, California July 12th – 14th.

In a superheated contest, AmPro/Moto-Xperts/Maxxis/Fox Yamaha YFZ450R-mounted Walker Fowler scored his first XC1 Pro class win of the 2013 GNCC ATV season in Springville, Ind. on Saturday, May 18. Following Fowler’s move this year to the AmPro Yamaha team guided by Randy Hawkins, the win was a powerful validation of AmPro’s ability to build a championship-contending team in ATV racing as well as off-road motorcycle racing. Further adding to Yamaha’s off-road laurels for the weekend, Jedediah Haines rode his Obermeyer/Raines Racing WR450F to a win in the AMA Eastern Hare Scrambles in Valley View, Penn. on Saturday, and then backed it up with a GNCC XC2 Pro Lites podium finish aboard a YZ250F on Sunday.

After scoring three podiums in the first five races of the season, AmPro Yamaha’s Fowler was primed and ready to grab a victory in Indiana. However it was a fellow YFZ racer, Waynesburg Yamaha-backed Jeffrey Pickens, who grabbed the holeshot, leading for a short while before the field settled in. Then a motivated Fowler passed Chris Bithell for the lead by the end of the first lap, although his rival hotly pursued him for the duration of the event. Fowler held a narrow 1.5-second advantage after the first of four laps, 2.8 seconds by the midway point, and a precious 4.1 seconds as the pair started the final lap of the two-hour race.

Fowler threw everything he had into this last half-hour of racing, and was finally able to stretch out a 5.6-second lead at the checkers. So fast was Fowler on his YFZ that the next nearest competitor, points leader Chris Borich, was nearly a half-minute behind in third. “The AmPro team has been working very hard to get this first ATV win and it comes at a pivotal time in the series,” explained Yamaha off-road racing coordinator Donnie Luce. “Overall it’s a good start, and we look forward to adding a few more wins to the YFZ’s resume in 2013.”

Yamaha GRANTs from California to Vermont Advocate Safe, Responsible OHV Riding and Open, Sustainable Access to Trails and Riding Areas

Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A., has approved first quarter awards providing funding from its OHV Access Initiative, the industry leader in Guaranteeing Responsible Access to our Nation’s Trails (GRANTs), to deserving organizations across the country.

“Yamaha has approved new GRANTs to support organizations that span the country, from California to Vermont, serving the mission to promote safe, responsible riding and open, sustainable riding areas,” said Steve Nessl, Yamaha ATV and SxS marketing manager. “Yamaha’s reach through the OHV Access Initiative is national, but the heart of the program resides in the local communities that enjoy increased family fun and economic development through safe, responsible OHV access.”

In just this past quarter, the Yamaha OHV Access Initiative awarded more than $85,000 to a variety of organizations including local riding clubs, regional BLM offices and the National FFA, illustrating the breadth of the program’s reach. The 2013 Q1 Yamaha GRANT recipients are:

Bureau of Land Use Management, El Centro Field Office, California

Coastal Off Road Riders Association, South Carolina

Colorado Backcountry Trailriders Association

Dirt, Inc., Idaho

Electric City Dirt Riders, Montana

National FFA Foundation

Northwest Wyoming Off High Vehicle Alliance

St. Helen Dirtpackers ORV Club, Michigan

Vermont ATV Sportsman Association

Yamaha’s GRANT to the Northwest Wyoming Off Highway Vehicle Alliance – the first organization from Wyoming to submit a qualified application into the program – raises the total number of states in which GRANTs have been approved to 38.

Yamaha is actively seeking qualified projects at local, state and federal levels. The current OHV Access Initiative GRANT application form and guidelines are available online at www.yamahaohvaccess.com.
GBC Motorsports racers are heating up to go along with rising temperatures in Southern California as RJ Anderson and Mitch Guthrie Jr. won their respective classes at WORCS Honolulu Hills.

SXS Pro Production
With temperatures breaking into triple digits, WORCS Racing descended on the small town of Taft, CA for the fifth round of the 2013 season. RJ Anderson took the holeshot and the early lead in the hotly contested SXS Pro class, as fellow GBC racers James Hill and Tommy Scranton followed behind in third and fourth. Anderson seems to be back to form as he controlled the entire race and finished with his second straight victory aboard his GBC Dirt Commanders.

Despite running in the top five for most of the race, last-lap mechanical issues dropped both James Hill to 12th place and Scranton to 16th on the day. Tim Wyatt finished 9th and Wesley Barker finished 14th.

The SXS Pro win pushed Anderson up into 6th place in the season standings, and despite the disappointing finish James Hill actually jumped up to the number two spot. Tim Wyatt sits in 4th place, Tommy Scranton in 7th and Wesley Barker in 10th to give GBC Motorsports five of the top ten spots on the leader board.

SXS Production 1000
Just three weeks after fracturing his hand on a hard landing at Sand Hollow, Mitch Guthrie Jr. returned to action to dominate the SXS 1000 class. Guthrie nabbed the holeshot on his GBC Dirt Commanders and didn’t look back, winning his 4th race of the season and stretching his class lead to 41 points. Mike Gardner put in his best performance of the year, earning a 2nd place podium appearance and jumping to 4th in the standings.

Mitch Guthrie Jr. stuck with the Dirt Commanders in Taft, grabbing the holsehot and another SXS 1000 victory.

SXS Production 850
Nolan Remlinger pulled the SXS 850 holeshot and ran most of the race in 3rd place, but was disqualified for an off-the-track incident.

Quad Open A
On the ATV side of things, Jose Mendoza and Bryce Kitchen competed in the Open A class at Honolulu Hills. Mendoza finished 7th and Kitchen finished 11th, and both are in the top 5 in the standings at 4th and 5th, respectively.

2nd Running of the Dunlop Limestone 100 GNCC Takes Place This Weekend

As the 2013 AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country season approaches the midway point this weekend, 4-Time champ Chris Borich remains undefeated in the XC1 Pro ATV class with five consecutive wins under his belt. The series heads to Springville, Ind. this weekend for the Dunlop Limestone 100 GNCC, Round 6 of the series, where the fast-paced Indiana terrain could help level the playing field and allow a potential new race winner to end Borich’s dominant streak.

With 64 career wins to date, Borich has already proven his merit amongst the best XC ATV racers in GNCC history as he nears the all time wins record. Eight-Time GNCC champ Barry Hawk currently holds the record with 68 total wins, which is within reach for the consistent Borich as eight races still remain in 2013.

Reliable Tool Supply/Maxxis rider Chris Bithell could perhaps be the one to break his Suzuki-mounted teammate’s win streak, leading the champ for more laps than anyone else this season. Riding aboard an all-new machine and program for 2013, Bithell continues to become more comfortable each round and looks to secure a race win this season. Bithell currently sits third overall in the championship standings, only five points below AmPro Yamaha’s Walker Fowler.

Following an unpredictable mud race at the last round, both Fowler and Bithell failed to score points toward the National Championship. Fowler was forced to retire from the race after acquiring so much mud in his eyes that he was unable to continue on. Similarly, Bithell also ran into issues late in the race that dropped him outside of the top 20 overall.

Lonestar/Precision/ITP’s Adam McGill sits only two points behind Bithell in the overall standings with a pair of podium finishes so far this season. McGill is yet another XC1 front-runner who is capable of securing a race win over Borich.

The epic battle for the fifth place in the standings continues between BNR’s Kevin Yoho and Waynesburg Yamaha’s Jeff Pickens, who sit less than five points apart heading into Round 6. Pickens made a jump in the points after securing his first-ever podium finish last round. JB Offroad/Can-Am’s Jarrod McClure tops Yamaha/GBC/HMF’s Johnny Gallagher by four points for the seventh place spot, while Team Woodhead/DeRisi Racing’s Braden Henthorn and XC2 rider Patrick McGuire round out the top ten with a tied score of 53 points in the overall standings.

XC2 Pro Am rookie Brycen Neal leads the way in the class standings, sitting only 6 points ahead of McGuire heading into this weekend’s race. Defending XC2 champ McGuire has been one of the most consistent finishers so far as he’s stayed inside the top five each round this season. XC2 rookie Landon Wolfe holds the third place position, while Indiana’s Chad Jones and Round 5 class winner Randy Hamilton round out the XC2 top five.

Youth ATV racing will take place Saturday at 8 a.m., followed by amateurs, 4×4 and Women at 10 a.m. and the top amateurs and pros at 1 p.m. 50cc Micro racing returns to the schedule this weekend, taking place on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. For more information on the series, visit www.gnccracing.com.

Due to conflicting events this weekend, the GNCC LIVE show will not be broadcast from the Dunlop Limestone 100. The regularly scheduled show will be back on RacerTV.com June 1 and 2 for the Wiseco John Penton GNCC.

Can-Am® ATV and side-by-side racers competed in three different racing series and tallied 25 total podiums. Can-Am X-Team member Mathieu Deroy won the ATV Pro class at the New England ATV Motocross series in Hew Hampshire. Can-Am DS 450™ racers scored three class victories and eight podiums at round four of the 2013 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship series in Indiana. At the World Off-Road Championship Series in Taft, Calif., Can-Am racers earned three podiums.

“The Can-Am racing team and amateur support riders had another successful weekend of racing, earning roughly two dozen podiums. It was good to see Canadian Pro Mathieu Deroy get his first Pro class win,” said Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “We had some challenges this weekend in the AMA ATV MX Pro class and WORCS SxS Pro Production, by just narrowly missing two podium finishes, but our teams are more determined than ever to earn a spot back up on the box as soon as possible.”

NEATV-MX – Round 3

Round 3 was held at a muddy MX101 in Epping, N.H. Leading the way was Pro class racer, Mathieu Deroy (Can-Am X-Team / PLX Sport / Ultimate ATV) of Canada, who won the first Pro class moto with a late-race pass. He then overcame a slower start to finish second in moto two to earn his first career Pro class win and overall aboard the Can-Am DS 450 ATV.

“My Can-Am DS 450 was amazing this weekend, ran great, got me to the front of the pack off the holeshots in the Pro class and led me to my first Pro win ever,” said Deroy. “The track was super rough. This win has got me really energized to go for the top podium spot again.”

NEATV-MX Pro class points leader Travis Moore finished second behind Deroy. Racing for BCS Performance / Wide Open Racing, the Can-Am Pro won the second moto of both the Pro and Pro-Am classes to earn the second spot on each podium. Fourth place in the Pro class went to Can-Am racer, Canadian Anthony Derochers.

Can-Am racers earned 11 other podiums at MX101. Jake Chamberland won the 4-Stroke A class and took third in the College Boy class. Ellie Derochers and Mark Gehring joined Chamberland on the 4-Stroke A podium. Ryan Dyer (Production Stock B), Alex Parker (4-Stroke B), Roy Lampron (40+ Open) and Justin Locke (25+) took second in their classes. Max Baskin (Production Stock B), Tyler Pulver (Production Stock C) and Joshua Suchocki (40+ Open) tallied third place finishes on their Can-Am ATVs.

Mtn. Dew ATV MX – Round 4

Wildcat Creek MX in Rossville, Indiana, hosted its first AMA ATV MX national event. Former GNC national champion and Can-Am racer Travis Spader won two classes (30+, 40+) and Michael Troiano earned the overall in the Production A class on his DS 450. The five other podium finishers were Nick Gennusa (2nd, Open A), Merrill Crose (2nd, 450 A; 3rd, 30+), Douggie Hill (3rd, Open C) and Clayton Coad (3rd, 4-Stroke C).

BCS Performance / Can-Am DS 450 Pro Josh Creamer finished fourth in the Pro class. He ended up seventh in moto one after a mediocre start. However, a much-improved start and a third-place finish in moto two was good for fourth overall.

“My Can-Am DS 450 was working flawlessly. I had a brand new quad built by BCS Performance and they had it dialed in,” said Creamer, who is currently fourth in the Pro class point standings. “I need to get some turn around in my luck, I just need to get two solid motos in one day and I’ll be good.
