Quad Tech SC-1 Seat Hump

ImageEvery once in a while a product comes along that you can’t help but fall in love with. As far as we’re concerned this is one of them.

We first saw this seat on Quad Tech CEO, Billy Pointer’s Honda 450R at the Glen Helen GNC race. For those of you that know Billy, you know how much effort and attention to detail he puts into his quad and each and every product his company sells. Billy is the man behind Quad Tech, one of the most innovative companies to ever enter into the ATV market.

Now for the good part
At first glance it is blatantly evident that there is something different about this seat. Sure, all of Quad Tech’s products look good, but every one of them also has a very important purpose to serve. The purpose of this seat is to make you faster! Faster? How does an aftermarket seat make you faster? It’s just a seat, how can this be? We’re sure some of you may have noticed a few of the top Suprecross/Motocross dirt bike riders using a seat with a small raised “lip” near the rear of the seat. This Quad Tech seat brings this technology to the quad market.

“Until my first ride on this seat I wasn’t convinced of the legitimacy of this new seat design”, said our test pilot, Brit Mansell. “After one ride I was loving it.” Not only does this seat feature the same non-slip material that has made the Quad Tech seats famous through the years, but this new addition to the lineup makes this seat leaps and bounds more effective than any other seat on the market. The benefit of this design was most evident while under heavy acceleration. The lip on the rear of the seat actually grabs you (no jokes here, please) and holds you onto the seat, relieving some of the strain on your arms.

ImageAll it will take to convince you of the effectiveness of this seat is one sit for yourself. The first thing you will notice during this magnificent “sit” is the plushness of the new seat foam. It feels as though you are sitting on a pillow, but still firm near the seat pan. “Soft but firm” — (again we’ll leave out the butt jokes this time). The seat foam that ships with this seat cover wraps all the way over each edge of the seat pan. This helps to reduce those nasty bruises from bouncing off of the hard plastic seat pan during extreme cornering.

This seat has it all, great looks and great performance. There are just a handful of products that we consider absolutely essential to a MX quad. These products consist of things such as wide A-arms, good shocks etc. This new product from Quad Tech has made our short list of must haves. It is honestly that good.

“The first ride for me on this seat was at a SEQRA race. They run motos that last about 15 minutes in their Expert class. As the minutes clicked along during the moto the seat became more and more comfortable”, says Brit. “Nasty breaking bumps and acceleration bumps that usually left their mark per say now were just barely felt through the new seat. The quad also had less of a pull on my arms since it held me to the seat much better. As the laps progressed, I became more and more accustomed to the new feel of the seat. It is definitely worth every penny.”

Bottom line: This seat is not just for looks, it’s a major performer!

Price (including seat foam): $170
