Vechery Racing has returned home from Round 1 of the Mountain Dew ATV MX National Championship at Echeconnee Mx located in Lizella, Georgia where Ronnie Higgerson gave the team their best finish to date in the prestigious ATV Pro class. This round also marked the debut of new team member Casey Martin filling in for Tim Dettling.

In moto number one of the day Higgerson found himself almost last around the first corner of the 18 rider field. With an inspiring ride Ronnie would work his way into 6th place picking off almost half the field in just a few laps and would maintain his position till the end of the moto. Unfortunately for new rider Casey Martin an electrical issue on the way to the line would keep him sidelined for the first moto.

The second moto would see Ronnie Higgerson take his DASA Powered/TDR Built Honda to a fifth place finish crossing the line pressuring for fourth. Ronnie’s six-five finishes would give him sixth overall matching his best overall to date in the AMA Pro Class. “After a bad race in Daytona we have made up for it with a great weekend in Georgia, we are currently tied for sixth in the series and moving up! We will continue to build on this and keep the momentum rolling!! I want to thank everybody so much for all the great support this year,” exclaimed Higgerson! With a new stator and CDI, Casey Martin would work his way into 10th place in the second moto. A DNS and 10th place finish would give Casey 15th overall for the day. “I really want to give Vechery Racing, Tim Dettling and all the team sponsors a huge thank you for giving me the opportunity to race this season. I had no intentions of racing any nationals after Daytona but with their offer, it gave me the ability to keep my job and still make the Saturday events. After we got our electrical issue fixed moto number two went better then I actually thought it would, considering I had not been riding or doing any type of training. After a few rounds in I know my endurance will strengthen and with the awesome Vechery Racing bikes I’ll be able to have some pretty decent results,” said Martin.

Vechery Racing/Never Sleep Designs Satellite support riders Alex Pafford and Bryce Barber put in solid finishes in their qualifiers as Sunday’s second motos were cancelled due to the weather. Alex would go on to finish 11th in Schoolboy Senior and 10th in Youth All Star. Bryce would go on to qualify eighth in Open B and fifth in 450B.

“We were extremely happy to see the performances put in by both Ronnie and Casey for the first motocross race of the year. We can’t thank our sponsors enough for their support! Elka and Jay have been doing a great job getting our shock dialed in with the Six5Design components and it showed how well it was working out there for our guys. I am really looking forward to the next round in Texas,” said team owner Gloria Vechery.
