A few final words from the promoter
The race went fantastic until the last few hours when protests and near fights caused my lack of attention toward details that were badly needing my attention. By giving away all the profits to the riders, the event is sometimes short on sufficient staff. This led to my lack of getting our special awards and purse money completely finished in time for the race’s end. With this, it was necessary to mail several teams their share of the purse along with their custom made award plaques (each team gets their own photo on their plaque). Rest assured all awards and purse money have been paid in full. A few teams would not accept getting awards and purse money in the mail and barged into the living quarters of my trailer demanding their winnings on the spot. It’s a shame a few people can be so critical of our short comings and not see all the possitive things we’ve worked hard to make available. Instead they find it necessary to lose their cool at the event and are determined to try to tarnish our reputation in the industry on several internet forums. The evil they demonstrated and continue to generate toward me, this website and the event will not be forgotten and it goes without saying a few people wont be welcome at next year’s event.
To all the appreciative teams that also spend a lot of time and money to take their part in this unique event, on behalf of Maxxis Tires, the entire Miller family and all the volunteers that make the event possible I sincerely thank you for your support.
As for the future, I’ll be happy to give up all potential profit to a worthy non profit organization if this is what it will take to take the event to a higher level. In this I would think the event could look forward to a sufficient amount of volunteers and could more than likely collect additional outside the industry sponsorship funding. This will also put far less stress and financial drain on myself – making the event fun again for everyone, including myself. If you’re reading this and you have a connection to a worthy non profit organization that is serious enough to meet to discuss this opportunity immediately please contact me at jpellan@atvscene.com.
