Dixieland Speedway in North Carolina hosted round four of the ATVA GNC Extreme Dirt Track Series this past weekend. The race followed up the controversial round three at Pine Lake, which was called due to weather and scored on the heat race results. This left Farr seven points behind both Keith Little (Yamaha) and Harold Goodman (Suzuki) going into the race.

Saturday night’s pro agenda under the lights . I do not think that anyone could have predicted the happenings of the evening. Three Pro heat races were run. The first of the night featured Yamaha’s Keith Little. Little got a bit overanxious and jumped the start. The race was red flagged and Little was put back to the penalty line. On the second start, Suzuki’s Shane Hitt grabbed the holeshot. Nathan Dallas followed Hitt around turn one. Hitt rolled to a stop on the second lap with mechanical problems and Dallas took over the lead. Little picked off riders one by one and then pressured Dallas. On the very last corner of the last lap, Dallas left an opening on the inside and Little quickly capitalized. The second heat featured Farr and flat track specialist, Darin Ogden (K&K, FTZ, Fischer Cycle). Ogden grabbed the holeshot. Farr gave chase, but had to settle for second place. Brad Covington won the third Pro heat race of the night. Ogden’s heat was timed as the fastest of the night.

Farr opted to not run the Pro-Am race on this night. Little did and blew up his motor. He had little time to change the motor before the Pro main event. Little walked to the start line to save his starting position while his pit crew continued to work on his quad. He was given a two-minute warning, but was unable to get his quad started before the light turned green. Nathan Dallas was called for jumping the start and the riders were all lined up a second time. Little’s crew continued to work feverishly on the LSR Yamaha. The restart gave them just enough time to get the quad fired up. With only seconds to spare Little’s blue number 12 rolled on to the third row just as the main event starting light turned green.

Brad Covington finished on the podium and proved he's got what it takes to be able to run up front. And get this -- Covington does all his own engine modifications much like his sponsor Curtis Sparks did when he used to race. Not many racers can do that.

Ogden rocketed off the line and grabbed the lead through the sweeper and around turn one. Farr edged out Covington for second position. Unfortunately for point’s leader, Little, all that effort was for not, as his quad immediately began blowing smoke and only made a few laps before locking up. Ogden seemed to have the track dialed in and Farr had his hands full with Covington. Morris held down fourth place and Goodman followed in fifth. There was little passing on the tight Dixieland track and the top five finished just as they started. Ogden grabbed his first win of the year. Farr took runner-up and Covington rounded out the podium.

The evening’s strange events and Farr’s second place finish earned him the series point’s lead by a mere two points over Goodman and three points over Ogden.
