Derek Guetter Injury Update

It has been a little over a month since my crash and I wanted to give you all an update on my progress!
I’ve been busy this past week going in and out of the doctors office getting X-rays, MRI’s, Cat scans, blood tests, needles, you get the picture. Last week sucked. I was getting my dislocated shoulder looked at by a specialist to determine whether or not I needed surgery, and he found that one of my cracked vertebrae worried him that it was unstable and may need to be operated on. My shoulder should be ok, it’s more in the AC joint and not the ligaments so it’s jut going to take time to heal. I’m not a doctor so I’m not even sure what that means.
They fitted me for this sweet back brace (sarcasm) and a spinal specialist saw me on Thursday. Although there is plenty of damage the Doc said the spine should be all right. All of these back injuries have been pretty scary, I have little to no feeling on the left side of my back from the nerve damage, and it still is a bit painful. I’m so thankful for my condition though, things could always be much worse so I’m counting my blessings.
The femur feels all right, I’m beginning to walk around the house without the walker and although sore, the doc’s say it’s healing nicely. It’s pretty weird that they stuck a rod in my leg and theirs only 3 small incisions, seems like a tight squeeze to do all that work in such little space.
I’ve been spending a great majority of time online on ATVriders.com and Ebay buying parts to rebuild my 87 Suzuki LT250 and 88 Honda 250R. I’m sure my wife is pretty sick of me always on the computer but having a 250R is soo much fun! I’d like to send a special thanks to Scott at Laeger’s and Mr. Wayne Moe at PEP for hooking this guy up with a sweet long travel setup!! Can’t wait to install and stare at my dream machine! I’ve always wanted a sweet 250R and now that I have one it’s a dream come true, hardly anything on my CT 310 is stock!
So there you go, everything seems to be healing and I’m in good spirits. Everyone from the Nuclear Cowboyz tour got together and got me a brand new guitar and amp, so I’ve been jamming that every night! That guitar is so special to me, not only is it completely bad ass, it’s the nicest gift I’ve ever received from people who I’ve looked up to for years! It’s a great feeling to have friends like that. Anyways, hopefully it’s a short 2-3 months to come and I can get back on my Can-Am and get shredding again! Stay safe everyone.
Thanks guys!!
