FLY Racing Named Title Sponsor of Inaugural ATVSX Round at Daytona International Speedway
- Updated: January 9, 2015
Following the historic announcement in December, MX Sports Pro Racing officially announced today that FLY Racing will serve as the title sponsor of the inaugural ATVSX at Daytona International Speedway. Taking place on Tuesday, March 10, the ATVSX at Daytona will kick off the 2015 Mtn. Dew ATV Motocross National Championship, sanctioned by AMA (ATVMX).
ATVSX will take center stage at the “World Center of Racing” as part of legendary “Bike Week,” following the annual Daytona Supercross and Ricky Carmichael Daytona Amateur Supercross on Tuesday, March 10. It will serve as arguably the most significant race in ATV motocross history, putting the championship and its riders at the forefront of the most renowned week of motorcycle racing in the world.
FLY Racing is already an integral part of ATVMX, sponsoring a large contingent of the series’ competitors, including three-time AMA Pro ATV Champion Chad Wienen and the entire Wienen Motorsports Yamaha effort. The increased presence of sponsoring the single-most anticipated event in the sport’s 30-year history was a natural progression.
“The opportunity for FLY Racing to be a part of such a historic event with the inaugural ATVSX race at Daytona was something we couldn’t pass up,” said Jason Thomas, FLY Racing Sales Manager. “Many of the most prominent riders in ATVMX, including reigning champion Chad Wienen, wear FLY and there isn’t a better way to show our support of the riders and the series than to be title sponsor of the most significant race in the history of the sport. We look forward to a truly memorable weekend of racing in Daytona and hope this is the start of a long relationship with the ATVMX series.”
Never before in its 33-year history has ATVMX competed in a stadium-like setting, on a supercross-style track. As a result, the inaugural Daytona stop will implement an elimination format that mimics a true supercross style via heats, an LCQ, and main event for the AMA Pro ATV Class rather than a pair of motos that determines an overall classification.
Like all other rounds of the ATVMX season, Daytona will feature a contingent of pro-am, amateur and youth classes to accompany the premier AMA Pro ATV Class. However, only professional competition will account for points towards the championship.
