For those of you who might not remember me from the last 2 years of AMA Grand National racing in the Buckeye State, my name is Cindy, AKA Cindy the trophy girl. Ever since a young girl growing up in Ohio, I’ve watched other kids with their mini-bikes & dirtbikes and I must say, “I’ve always liked guys that played in the DIRT!” After I grew up a little and years passed, I moved from the country to the city. I still missed the smell of the exhaust coming out the tailpipe of a bike or a 4-wheeler! Maybe some of you can relate? What is it about that great smell of race gas? I love that smell! Just when I thought I was going to have to go without watching motocross in my neighborhood, friends of mine put a dirt track in their backyard, in the middle of a neighborhood suburb! The neighbors absolutely hated it but luckily the court system said they couldn’t do anything about it, as long as they rode during daylight hours. You guy’s should see this thing, it’s like something out of the X-games, nobody can believe it!
As I was bragging to these guys about my mini-bike years, to my surprise someone pulled out a Suzuki TM75. For me to ride! Of coarse I crashed pretty bad on it, but I was determined and stuck with it. I later mastered the 75 and moved to a Yamaha YZ 80 The 80 was really fast! Then one day at a garage sale, this lady sold me her sons Blaster when he wasn’t home for $600.00! I felt a little guilty, but shit it’s an almost new Blaster for only $600 bucks, so I bought it. I wasn’t sure how to ride it because I never really rode a fourwheeler, at least not by myself! After riding it for a while I was hooked and from then on, ATVs have been my favorite type of off-road machine. One day at my friend’s backyard track, this guy showed up and was jumping his quad longer and farther than any of the dirtbike guys, and some of those guys are damn good! I had to find out who this dude was. Turns out his name’s Tim Farr. I’ve read about him in the magazines but didn’t realize he lives so close to me. After meeting him and seeing what the pro level guys can do on fourwheelers I just had to check out some local races with my backyard track friends. That’s all it took — I was hooked. I now loved the ATV scene more than ever and wanted more.
Next I was off to a few nationals, including Mt Morris, (one of my favorites) – what a rush!Eventually I was introduced to John Pellan. He asked if I would like to be a trophy girl for the ’98 Nationals in Deerfield GNC. Of course I did it, how could I resist? What a blast that was! We were even featured on ESPN’s Moto World! I couldn’t believe I got paid for so much fun! After this race another interest got sparked –Modeling. In a short time I did my first calendar. Unfortunately it was a watercraft calendar and not an ATV gig, but I gladly took the job anyway. The next year I attended many local & national races. I was contacted by John Pellan again, he asked if I wanted to be one of the trophy girls for the ’99 Nationals in Orrville. Of course I said yes! This, in my opinion, was the best race I’d ever been to or seen tapes of! I see why Fast-Trak got Promoter of the Year! I also love how they brought more attention to the sport!
My most memorable moment from this race you ask? It should have been, now picture this, 4 trophy girls in an RV doing hair, make-up, you know girl primping stuff, the afternoon before the main events when all at once we’re in the middle of a frickin’ tornado! When it was over, we looked out our RV window to find little campers had rolled over on their sides! You think this would have been my most memorable moment of this race right? Wrong! Without a doubt it was Matt Coulter’s nasty looking crash. Once again I got to be on TV, this time on Fox television’s Guinness World Records Prime Time, which is seen all over the world!Since the Orrville National, I’ve done more modeling, mostly bikini shoots in Florida & the Bahamas. I’ve met & partied with lots of famous people like Anna Nicole Smith. So as you see these last two years have been pretty cool for me, and it all started from the opportunity of being a trophy girl for Fast-Trak Promo. Thanks John & George!
