FNL Series Round 2 2011

ImageFriday July 15th marked the second round of the new and exciting Friday Night Lights ATV Summer Series presented by Triumph Motorsports, and sponsored by DWT, Moto Works, Elka, Leatt, ODI, Blingstar, FLY, Fasst Co, Dio Vonti, Bomb Squad, LSR, STI, GBC Motorsports, and ATV Scene.com.

The second round of the new series saw some improvement and definite momentum. This series seems to have caught on big in the ATV racing headquarters of Southern California. The good people at Milestone MX Ranch and Scott Burns of FNL seems to have taken pride in putting together these first few round of the series. The track was absolutely perfect, and the weather could not have been better. There was a nice cool Southern California breeze all night and what a treat to not have to be out in the hot summer sun.

As for the actual racing, it was some of the best seen in the area. The classes seem to be almost staged, they’re that exciting. Every class at the second round had the top three racers banging bars from start to finish.

ImageGBC Motorsports joined the series right before round 2. Kory Ellis, now employed by GBC Motorsports, is excited to be working with Anthony Martin of Triumph Motorsports. His hope, like the many involved in the new series, is to grow the ATV portion of the program bigger than the bike portion. With that GBC sponsored the race with tire giveaways.

GBC gave a set of four tires to a first moto class winner. The name was drawn out of 7 motos shortly after the first motos were over and Ralph Rodriguez won the set. Ralph was moto number one winner in the beginner class.

GBC and many other vendors were on hand Friday night and liked what they saw as well.

ImageThere was another great turn out of pro riders at round 2 and once again the Firday Night Pro MX quad racing was intence! Jeremie Warnia didnt make it back for round 2, but Dillon Zimmerman came out from Team Can Am / Motoworks and showed many riders how it’s done.

ImageTeam MCR / Maxxis’ Beau Baron was on the scene making a statement. Without a doubt, Beau is one of the fastest guys on the West Coast!

ImageMike Cafro of Team MCR also made an appearance in the Pro Am class

ImageDavi Haagsma Team MCR / H&M made a comeback to Round 2. In the first round of the series he gave Warnia a run for his money. At round 2 he was doing the same to MCR’s Beau Baron.

ImageThe Pro Am class offered some of the best racing of the night. GBC’s Kory Ellis came out to show up some of the young pups. Turns out he had to deal with another old timer in his friend, Darrel Patton. Number 53 and 35 battled it out all night and never let each other out of their sites, and seemed to be locked to each other’s bumpers all night long.

ImagePro Am rider Chase Thomas has been on top of his game this year, with great showing in the WORCS rounds. He has a blast at the FNL battling with some of the nations top racers.

ImageAnother Pro Am rider, Daniel Palacios, has been on the gas. Daniel is soon to be one of the West Coast’s top Pro Am racers.

ImageDuring the Pro Am staging Kory Ellis was seen giving some advice to young up and coming professional Jason Fife.

ImageAfter the Pro & Pro Am races, Intermediate and Novice classes took to the track.

ImageThere’s no shortage of big Friday Night air at Milestone.

ImageIn the Intermediate class Kaeli Flaczinski was back from a round one victory. She had a little more competition this round with Justin Klinger coming out. Kaeli was able to get around Klinger in the first moto, and in the second moto Kaeli seemed to be all over Klinger but could not get around him, so Justin Klinger took the hard-earned Intermediate Class win.

ImageAnthony at Triumph brought out his own boys in the Open 250 class. Jerry, and Christian are new to the Yamaha Raptor 250, but they seemed to be getting the hang of it by passing Larry Heidler here in the +30 Class. The brothers have been racing since they were 4 and 6 years old.Scott from FNL said, “We are so excited to have the Quads a part of our Friday Night program. The more the merrier, we are hoping to see even more quads next time.”

“Tonight’s racing was outstanding! Quad racers are bringing everything they have on Friday nights. This is the most exciting racing I have seen in a long time! The classes seem oddly balanced and it is fun to watch. Now that GBC is giving away a set of four tires every round and $2000 worth of amateur prizes up for grabs no
wonder why people are flocking to the new FNL series. We hope to not only see more racers at each round, but spectators too. The series is definitely worth the price of admission to watch, I guarantee it,” says Anthony from Triumph Motorsports.
