Aaron Bievenue

ImageIn a time when some are getting out of the sport of ATV racing, I found a guy jumping into it head first. Enter Aaron Bievenue, photographer and ATV racing enthusiast. Aaron’s photography caught my eye, and seeing his passion for the sport and enthusiasm to grow his business within it impressed me. With this, here’s a little interview with Aaron along with a few of his images…

How Did you get involved in the sport?
I have been in love with motocross since I was about eight years old. I remember flipping through the channels one day and I saw this strange thing that really got my interest. It was a Supercross race on ESPN. I had never seen anything like it. I think it was love at first site. Ever since I can’t seem to get enough of it.

Do you ride?
Yeah of course I ride quads, but I have to be honest I’m a dirt bike guy. That’s where I got my start and what I chose to race.

Let me get this straight, you’re a dirt bike guy, but you spent the entire year shooting ATV racing?
I knew before the season started I wanted to get more involved in quad racing. In my opinion it’s the best kept secret in motorsports. I wanted to shoot and get involved at the highest level I could so I got on atvmotocross.com, looked through all the links and called a few people. Someone said David Screws might be able to help me. I called him, he called me back and the rest is history. I really don’t believe he thought I would make the eight hour drive to round one in Alabama just to take some photos, but I did..

ImageWhy are you so into photography?
I really enjoy stopping an exciting moment in time, and photography really allows me to be creative. And to tell the truth, I had always wanted to be a photographer but didn’t take it too serious until I discovered that I didn’t have a genuine desire to be an automotive or motorcycle technician any longer.

What other hobbies do you enjoy?
The biggest things that make up my life right now are photography, motorsports, automobiles and beautiful women. Somehow I’ve managed to tie all of them together into one fantastic career. So I’ve been blessed in that my hobbies are essentially my career.

Is there a particular rider that shows off well in your photographs?
I have to say these three guys seem to stand out in my images; Chad Wienen, Josh Creamer and Jeffrey Rastrelli. They pretty much all have great style that I seem to capture pretty well in photos.

Is there a certain rider that you don’t get good images of?
I would say Dustin Wimmer. He doesn’t look as aggressive and fast as he truly is. It’s hard to get a killer image of him because he just flows with the bike and doesn’t look like he’s giving it much effort. He’s the four-wheeled version of Kevin Windham.

ImageWhat else do you shoot?
ATV Racing is my specialty, but I’m working on getting better at portrait photography. I don’t have as good of a flow when shooting models as I do with action photography, but I’m getting better with each shoot. Recently I’ve been shooting potential ATV Scene Girls, which I must say has been quite fun. Besides quads, bikes and girls, I shoot some wildlife and automotive stuff.

What are your plans for Lucky’s Perfection Photography in 2011?
I’ve got a pretty large list of plans for 2011, most of it involves ATV Motocross. A lot of the things I’ve got planned are under tight wraps, if they come about you guys will be the first to know. All in all, you can expect to see Lucky’s Perfection Photography at each of the ATV Motocross Nationals in 2011. You’ll see more great action photography, beautiful models, sharp quads and more. Also, Lucky’s Perfection Photography will be sponsoringChad Wienen and Ronnie Higgerson.

How does a photographer sponsor riders?
Lucky’s Perfection Photography is going to do what most photographers in the ATV industry don’t. I’m going to be a real factor and key element in my sponsored rider’s everyday program. I’ll be there to support my riders mentally and financially. I’ll be there throughout the year when my riders are training during the week or putting practice laps in at the Nationals. I will not only make it my job to take photos throughout the year but I will also aid in marketing their talents to the best of my ability. Basically I will do my best to make sure they stay focused and positive.

ImageAre you selling images at the races?
I’m selling images online but not from the track. While at the races I’m going to focus on shooting and making a name for myself in the industry.

I love how optimistic you are, and your genuine belief that great things are in the sport’s future. What do you predict will accelerate the sport to a higher level?
Television coverage can and will take the sport to a higher level, but I would love to see more than just race highlights on TV however. I think new cutting-edge reality television programs and specials can lend a hand in making the sport more recognized and respected in the mainstream. I really think the industry can grow a lot as soon as more viewers see how great this kind of racing truly is.

We wish you luck in your adventures. Any parting words?
Thanks for the opportunities that you’ve given me. ATV racing is a great sport because it’s made from a bunch of great people. I would like to end by possible inspiring up and comers in the sport by saying hard work and surrounding yourself with a positive group of people are the key elements to success. Good luck everyone, and see ya at the races!
