ATV Scene: What is the Canadian ATV Championship series like?
Plante: In Canada we have twenty regional motocross races, but only three national championships count toward the overall points for the championship season.
ATV Scene: How many times have you been the Canadian champion?
Plante: I’m a three time Canadian champ (’99, ’01, ’02).
ATV Scene: Why have you chosen to concentrate on the GNC series?
Plante: I like the tracks in America much better than Canada. In Canada they race the bikes on the same day – so the tracks get ruts in them – making them not so quad friendly.
ATV Scene: Who do you admire most in the GNC series?
Plante: Jeremiah Jones, he’s very fast.
ATV Scene: How do you like today’s track (the ’02 Parker Valley, NC MX GNC)?
Plante: Actually I like this track a lot. I have always liked a track that features a lot of high speed, so this is to my liking.
ATV Scene: Do you drive to each round of the GNCs, or leave the trailer somewhere and fly?
Plante: We drive to each and every round of the series. Each trip is typically well over twenty hours one way – sometimes more.
ATV Scene: Are you going to race TT this year as well?
Plante: I did compete in a TT in Ashtabula last season and liked it, but unfortunately our funds wont allow us to compete at that part of the series. We already have a lot of money invested in the motocross series there just isn’t a way without additional sponsorship.
ATV Scene: So we take it you are for the split of the GNC series?
Plante: Oh yes, I think this was a great idea, there is no way we could attend 15 rounds.
ATV Scene: Any cross country racing plans in the works?
Plante: No I’m not interested in cross country racing. I’m dedicated to motocross.
ATV Scene: We understand that you live in the same town as Elka Suspension but run Aragusta shocks. Why is that?
Plante: Simply, they never contacted me or expressed any interest in my racing program.
