Jeremy Rice 4-22-04

A man that is younger than all other Pro riders is making a name for himself in the Pro Am Class. With several wins under his belt, the number sixteen rider, Jeremy Rice is looking for a Pro Am Class Championship this year. Can he do it? He has his cards laid out on the table and sets us straight.
ATV Scene: How long have you been racing?
Jeremy: About eight or nine years.
ATV Scene: What was your first quad and class?
Jeremy:I started on a 250X running in the Four Stroke Mod Class; I ran that for about five years. Then I got the 400 when they came out, then I got a 250R and now I am on a Honda 450R.
ATV Scene: Can you remember your first race?
Jeremy:Vaguely. I just remember my first GNCC was here in SC,
ATV Scene: What have you done to prepare for this season?
Jeremy:Training for me is running and lifting. I have been trying to ride, but it has been cold and snowing and unfortunately raining a lot more, so I haven’t been riding as much as I like to.
ATV Scene: What do you do to train during the week?
Jeremy:Well, I work construction, so that definitely keeps me in shape. Whenever I can I try to ride, which is only about once a week if that. Then I run and lift weights.
ATV Scene: What are some season highlights so far this season?
Jeremy:In Georgia, I took the Pro Am Class win and sixth overall. Things are coming together for me this year. I am currently winning the class, so that is nice.
ATV Scene: What can you say about your quad?
Jeremy:I have JB components on A-arms, swing arms, and stems – they are working awesome. The long travel front end, plus the front end has PEP shocks that are working smooth. DG Components are doing their job very well. Mark Baldwin from Baldwin Motorsports is helping me out a great deal. He has done awesome with the bike and getting it together for me. Pete Stadtmueller and Mike Moorehead are doing a lot of wrench work on the bike and keeping it clean for me this year.
ATV Scene: Who do you see as your biggest threat this year in the Pro Am Class?
Jeremy:There is a whole bunch of them: Chris Jenks, James Wahl, Jathan Seale, he is flying. It really just comes out to whoever has the better day.
ATV Scene: What are some goals for 2004?
Jeremy: Just to have fun. I have been racing two series and I just got burned out in the past. This year I plan on taking care of whatever comes up and not getting burned out on doing it.
ATV Scene: When you aren’t racing on the weekends, what do you do?
Jeremy: Working or working on my house.
ATV Scene: Monday to Friday job?
Jeremy: I work for my dad, Rice Excavating and Plumbing. He definitely keeps me busy on the weekdays and weekends for that matter.
ATV Scene: Age? Hometown? Married?
Jeremy: I think I am still 23, isn’t that bad. I will be 24 in May. Fombell, PA. NO, not married.
