Nelson Works Hard in WORCS Series
- Updated: October 20, 2014
In off-road racing action over the weekend, on Saturday Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson finished the 2014 WORCS off-road season in Primm, Nev., with a championship in the 30+ A motorcycle class aboard his YZ450F, winning all eight races in which he competed during the year. Then in Sunday’s nearly two-hour long ATV pro race, Nelson got away second behind rival Robbie Mitchell, but dropped to third behind Mitchell and Beau Baron after losing traction in a slippery section of track. Shortly afterwards he hit a kicker and went over the bars in a huge 40-50 mph tumble, losing many more positions in the process. But true to his strong work ethic,
Nelson jumped back on his YFZ and passed half the Pro field to finish a heroic fourth. “When I got going again, the bike was fine, but the rider was a little beat up!” he joked. Nelson also praised his YFZ450F and YZ450F during the long WORCS season. “Strong engine power has helped me start up front all year on both two and four wheels,” he said.
