Rick Cecco GNCC 4×4 Pro Round 10 Unadilla NY Race Report

i-XL7K6hX-XLAfter having the summer off, Unadilla Raceway always offers one of the largest turnouts of the season. With a reputation dating back to the 1960’s, this is one of the roughest and fastest tracks on the GNCC circuit. Here racers must be ready to tackle steep elevations, tight woods and many sections of the famous Unadilla motocross track. As always with increased entries on a shorter than normal track frequent bottlenecks leave fans wondering who will come out of the woods first every single lap. Not only are riders tested by this unforgiving track, but also the unpredictable weather. With frequent rain showers, this track can quickly turn into a slippy mess instantly. Today, however, the weather held out and only offered up a welcomed sprinkling to keep the dust down.

Having waited more than two months, the 4×4 Pro class is again ready for battle. With four rounds left in the GNCC season, the crown is still within reach for all. With the drop of the green flag, the second half of the season rages forward. Off the line, Cecco secured the third position and pinned it into the woods. Cecco experienced some trouble early in the race when hitting a double jump in the motocross section. During the second lap he realized he had lost his front differential and had to battle the track in 2wd through the remainder of the race. All racers know having to fight your machine through the course is incredibly taxing, but Cecco found his fire and continued to fight. After falling back to sixth place while readjusting his riding style to 2wd, by lap three, Cecco gained on his competition and moved into the fifth position. Through lap four, Cecco’s determination reaped even more reward as he moved up again into fourth place where he would remain at the end of the 5th lap for the checkered flag. With yet another GNCC race in the ultra-competitive 4×4 Pro Class behind him Cecco is quoted as saying, “I had to dig deep today. I’m thankful that I can count on the Polaris Scrambler XP to fight the fight with me. Today, unfortunately, I made a mistake that cost me some bike performance, but I’m confident these last three rounds are mine to win.”
