Rick Cecco Pro 4×4 Round 9 Snowshoe Race Report

10494310_4444733974164_789768112_oWhether by design or coincidence, no one can be sure, but as the last race before the summer break, Snowshoe is undoubtedly the most spectacular race of them all. While the setting is certainly upscale and luxurious, the track is undeniably the roughest and toughest of the entire GNCC circuit. Much different than all other races, riders line up for the start on the resorts main, paved road and, again unlike any other GNCC race, start with a live engine. This race combines aspects of every other spot on the circuit: rocks, hill climbs, mud bogs, roots and an elevation so high that it can cause a machine to perform much differently.

With anticipation at an all-time high, each 4×4 Pro rider plans to capture one last win before heading into a two month break. The start of this particular race certainly is no indicator of who will come through the finish first. With a track so tough, many are often unable to complete the entire race. Today was no exception. Rick Cecco saw trouble early on with goggles that failed forcing him to pit on the first lap. After this initial stop, however, Cecco used every lap to gain on those in front of him. Though he was back in the 5th position for laps one through five, by lap six he was able to move into the third position. Through lap seven, Cecco remained in the third position, but had mere seconds between himself and second place. Even having lost an muffler trying to bust thru a huge bottleneck on the 4th lap that put Cecco back over 4 minutes, the Polaris Scrambler still performed exceptionally well through insanely rough terrain. With only minutes left until the 4×4 Pro riders were due in, fans were kept guessing at who would come out of the woods first. Having only a handful of miles remaining on the last lap, Cecco managed to overtake the second position and grab yet another podium finish! After the race, Cecco excitedly explained, “I’m thrilled to head into the break having earning one tough 2nd place like Snowshoe!”
