Team Media Allstars 2007
- Updated: February 10, 2007
The Media Allstars amateur ATV MX racing team announces huge changes for the 2007 season. For starters, the official team name is now “Team Cernic’s/ Answer/ Suzuki/ Kellogg’s/ Media Allstars”. “The title sponsorship is normally reserved for a single sponsor, but the level of support the team is receiving from all of these companies dictated that we go with the longer name”, said Team Manager/ Owner Jorge Cuartas.
The name isn’t the only major change; the team has also switched from Honda TRX450R, to Cernic’s Suzuki LTR 450 machinery. “The team absolutely loves the LTR450, convincing this many riders to switch brands is nearly impossible, but in this case, the machine did all of the convincing. We couldn’t be more excited to be riding yellow, not to mention that Suzuki continues to prove that they’re behind the sport more than all of the other manufacturers combined, and that’s really important to us. The fact that we get to ride for a shop as prestigious as Cernic’s is a huge bonus as well. They’re another one of those companies that seems to be behind the scenes of everything cool in this sport.”
Other major changes include the use of Answer riding gear, Berik Boots, MSR hard parts, Yoshimura exhaust, Pro Taper handlebars, Walsh Race Craft suspension components, Hinson Clutch Components, Fox Racing Shox, Rath Racing aluminum products, Precision steering stabilizers, EVS protective gear, Motion Pro tools and cables, EBC Brakes, CV4 hoses, & RPM Axles. “It was a huge undertaking to switch this much of our program, 70-80% of our sponsors changed coming into 2007. Change can be a scary thing, but we feel we’re making moves in the right direction” stated Cuartas. Carry over sponsors from 2006 are: Maxima Lubricants, Maxxis tires, O’GIO, DWT (Douglas Wheel Technology), Uni Filters, Smith Optics, Liquid Performance, Updog Industries, Division Four, Regina Chains, Powermadd, Fullbore Innovations, DMP Covers, & Outerwears.
“It’s no coincidence that 92% of our sponsored products are distributed by Tucker Rocky Distributing, they’ve been a huge help to us coming into this season, and what they’re doing on the Pro side of the pits is huge for the sport. Sponsoring a team this big is huge for a company that’s just taking their first steps into the sport. We’re just proud to be in such good company.”
For 2007 The Media Allstars will not only field the biggest, and arguably most talented Amateur ATV MX Team in the sport, they will also be hosting various International racers through the ATV Ambassador program. The team roster this season is twice the size of the second biggest team in the sport, and three to four times the size of most other teams. For 2007 the bulk of the team is concentrating their efforts on the Pro Am classes. Leading the Pro Am assault are Nathan Commer (‘06 GNC 265 A, & Production A class Champion), Caleb Moore (Freestyle phenom, & ‘06 GNC Open A runner up), Bobby Ross (’04 GNC Production A Champion), Casey Martin (’06 265 A, & Production A class Runner Up), Aaron Meyer (’04 GNC 4 Stroke & Production C class Champion, ’05 GNC 4 Stroke & Production B Class Champion), Cody Grant (’06 GNC Production A #5, WPSA Pro Am #3), Austin Wilson, & Chad Sumner. The Pro-Am roster’s talent level is easily one of the deepest in the sport of MX. Representing the team in the Women’s class are Leslie Ragon (’05 Women’s B #2), & making her Women’s class debut, sixteen year-old Brittany Snider. In the Plus 25, & A classes will be Chase Cunningham (’06 GNC +25 class Runner Up, Open A class #3), and part time team coordinator Kyle Damman. Youth Production class duties will be handled by Indiana’s Jake Brattain. In the newly formed Super Mini class are the dynamic duo of Lee Rentz, & DJ Spurling. Making his “Big Bike” debut in the Production C class will be Danny Cooper. Last but not least, dominating the 50cc classes will be Jordan Digby. Outside of the MX team, the Media Allstars will once again be represented by Dustin Shuler in the GNCC series, and Zac Willett in the ATVA EDT series, & AMA SuperMoto series. Handling team management and sponsorship coordination duties will once again be Jorge Cuartas.
Other changes include a decision to contest the WPSA ATV Super Tour exclusively. “Team members are free to use the ATVA series to shake down their equipment and get some seat time, but that’s it.” Stated team GM Jorge Cuartas. “Our job is to get press, and race in venues that get our sponsors exposure, and for that; there’s no better series than the WPSA ATV Super Tour. We’ve got to concentrate on winning races at the highest level of this sport, and that’s the WPSA series. As a team we’re looking forward as opposed to looking back. We left all the politics, negativity, and BS in 2006. 2007 is all about uplifting the sport for us.”
In addition to rosters and sponsors, the team will once again be sharing cross-promotional duties with punk rock bands Stretch Armstrong, & Sick Of It All, as well as street art “Super Power” AKANYC. In addition, the Media Allstars will continue a year long filming campaign with H-Bomb Films, Premis Industries, & Akraix Entertainment. The team will once again host the “ATV Ambassador” Program, and appear in the THQ follow up to “MX vs. ATV Unleashed™”.
