Team Southside Polaris’ Mystik Lubricants Scores first Pro Overall Win
- Updated: August 14, 2014
The team headed to Twister Valley for the seventh round of the 2014 NEATV-MX Series. With a chance of rain for the weekend we didn’t really know what to expect but it turned out to be a perfect weekend.
Cody Paolella, has been a part of the Team Southside Polaris since 2011 and the Polaris Outlaw is the only full size quad he has ever competed with. Winning the C class in 11’, moving to “B” in 12” and winning both championships, last season moved to “A” and won a championship and now moved to Pro-Am and Pro Open for the 2014 season where he currently sits 4th in Pro-Am and 3rd In Pro Open points.
It only took him 2 rounds to get on the Pro podium, a feat that only a few can say they have accomplished on a Polaris, including Aaron Meyer, Casey Martin, Bobby Ross, Travis Moore, Mark Gehring and Randy Lehr. Cody came into the weekend on a mission, the Polaris/Mystik Lubricants/Gravely machine felt great in practice on Saturday. In the last practice session we did some tweaking to the Fox Racing Shox, Walsh front end to get it perfect and put on a fresh set of Goldspeed Tires.
In the first moto Cody got out 5th and made a quick move into 3rd when Hickson high sided coming out of turn 4 which bottled up Moore siding Paolella into 3rd. He would eventually make his way by Young when he a chain issue and then past Nac’s Racing teammate Bluy for the lead and win. The moto win marked Cody’s, Southside’s and Polaris’ first ever Pro moto win. (The closet we came prior was in 2009 when Meyer had led 7 ½ laps at Southwick before spinning out in a corner to finish 2nd.) In moto 2 Cody would again get out mid pack but with the Fox/Walsh/Goldspeed dialed in, he would again make his way to the front to go 1-1 in Pro Open for first overall on the day!
Moto 1 of Pro-Am came up and Cody again got out 5th, passed into 4th before turn 2 and then into 3rd over the big table top. He would then make a nice pass to the inside of Young for 2nd coming the finish line, and then the following lap in the same corner, he would go to the outside of Bluy for the lead and hold on for the moto win. In Moto 2 he would get out mid pack and make his way up to 2nd, he would settle in there and take 2nd in the moto behind Young for a 1st overall on the day!
In other classes, Ryan Dupont would go 1-2 in the 4-Stroke A for a 2nd overall and 1-1 in Open A for a 1st overall. Ryan currently leads both classes. Kyle Paolella went 1-1 for a first overall in Collegeboy and currently leads the points and went 3-3 for a 3rd overall in Open A, where he currently sits 3rd in points.
This coming weekend we head up to MX-207 in Maine for round 8 where we look to continue riding the wave of momentum! We hope to see you there!
