Wienen Motorsports’ Three Time National Champion Chad Wienen reclaimed the points lead this past weekend at Round 2 of the AMA ATV Pro National Series at Echeconnee MX. After taking third at the Daytona ATV SX, Round 1, Wienen went into Round 2 for the first tine in four years without the red background on his number plate signaling he held the points lead in the series but after going 2-1 for the weekend and taking the overall win Wienen now has a six point lead going into Round 3.
Wienen got a mid pack start in moto 1 and made it into fourth before the end of the first lap. After a few laps of battling with the rider in second, Wienen moved into second place by the halfway point into the race. With a healthy distance between first and second Wienen crossed the checkers in second place. Wienen Motorsports’ Brett Musick started moto 1 with a mid pack position and was able to take a ninth place finish by the end of the moto.
In moto 2, Wienen got off to a better start inside the top five and was able to position himself into second by the end of the first lap. Wienen took over the lead in the second lap and battled with the second place rider for a couple laps. Wienen went on to take the checkers at the end of moto 2 which gave him the overall win for the day. New to the team, Musick is working on finding comfort on the machine and we look forward to seeing him progress throughout the year!
The AMA ATV MX National Series will resume racing April 18 at Underground MX in Kemp, Texas a new facility to the series.
