Best of show: Bling Star Industries
The 38th annual Dealernews International Dealer Expo is the largest trade-only event in the motorcycle and ATV industry. The show brings manufacturers, distributors, dealers, riders and everyone in between from all over the world. With over 1000 exhibits it’s simply the show of all shows!
This year, despite high gas prices and sales declines in other industries, over 200 new companies were present and attendance was an all-time high according to Advanstar Communications. Exact figures on ATV involvement are yet to be announced, but from what we saw, much like the Dealer Expo in Indy, the ATV industry is alive and kicking.
It’s said that this show brings more revenue than the Indy 500 to the city. Indianapolis officials have already broken ground on a $900 million expansion to the Indiana Convention Center to keep sizeable events such as Dealer Expo from wondering to another city in the near future and to attract more large shows to the region. The expansion includes a new domed stadium for the Indianapolis Colts and NCAA basketball, implosion of the old RCA Dome and a 300,000 square foot expansion of the Convention Center. With news of the city’s expansion and results calculated from many surveys in the industry, Advanstar Communications’ Powersports Group (PSG) announced that the show will stay in Indianapolis until 2011.
