Texas temperatures were exceptional for the TQRA Series opener at Village Creek MX in Ft. Worth, Texas. Sun shining, 75 degrees and lots of racer enthusiasm!! Families, father/daughter and sibling rivalries all lined up at the starting gate. New members and returning members came to support the biggest QUAD racing series of the Southwest. Entries from Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico and Louisiana contributed to over 150 entries and 400 spectators!

While all classes are growing, the Pro-Am, Expert, Open B and Over 30 were impressive. Seven of the quads on the starting line of Pro-Am and Expert were Can Am DS 450’s. Snapp Brothers Racing – Corey and Chase Snapp lined up against The Miller Brothers, Hunter and Cody Miller and long time TQRA rider Johnny Hale. All four moto’s were battled until the end, with Can Am’s taking the top four spots in both classes! Chase Snapp walked away with a 1 -1 and both holeshots in the Pro-Am class with Cody Miller taking a 2-2. Hunter Miller and Johnny Hale battled to the end in both moto’s giving Hunter 3rd overall and Johnny the 4th spot. Brent Sellers made his racing debut on a 450 and clenched the 5th spot in Pro Am and a 1-1 in Open A. Open Expert had the same results for both moto’s. Cody Miller took 1st, Hunter Miller 2nd, Johnny Hale 3rd and Snapp Brother, Corey 4th. This series promises a lot of bumping, tire rubbing, airing out and great competition!!

ImageThe Open B class had a full gate with 18 riders lined up!! Pake Shinn also made his 450 racing debut, moving up from the Blaster class. He rode his way to a 1-1 finish. Cross Country rider Travis Brown, riding a Can Am, took 2-2 and TQRA newcomer, Brandon Clark took 3rd. The most impressive finish of the entire race day was FEMALE, Rachelle Lewis – former TQRA Women’s Champion, took 4th overall. Rachelle stuck with those boys through the first turn in both moto’s and rode flawlessly. I’m sure there were some riders looking at that ponytail when the helmet came off!!

Who says older gents can’t ride? Guess they weren’t watching the Over 30 class!! With 25 riders combined for Open Over 30 A and B – there was competition in the hole shot, corners and air. Top 5 finishers in 30 A were Jeremy Stegall, Shannon Klaassen, Shelton Cooper, Scott Dunn and Jeff Reeves. Top awards in Over 30 B went to Eddie Shafer, Dale Alexander, Brandon Johnson, Zeb Beard and Rich Standish.
