Alternative Gear from Four

Momma Scene always told us, “in order to feel good, you gots to look good baby!” If you are from the same riding school as Momma, you may want to check out Four’s new Freeride Style of riding gear known as the RazorBack. When the designers at Four decided to create a riding gear designed specifically for ATV riders that was both functional and stylish, the task at hand was not as simple as it sounds. As ATV enthusiasts, we’ve grown accustomed to hand-me-downs from the two-wheeled world. Thanks to Four, dirt slingin’ four wheeled fanatics like us no longer need to tolerate this issue.
Style:
Simply put, this gear looks fantastic. We felt like a less hammered version of Paris Hilton strutting our stuff down the dirt runway in our new swag. Wearing it put a little “skip in our gittyup”, if you know what we mean. In addition to the black gear we tested, you also have your choice of Sand Camo or traditional Forest Camo. All of the patterns are very stylish and would look good on any quad. Although, we might be inclined to save the camo patterns for the mean green utility machines. The ¾ length cuffless sleeves took a little getting used to, but they will definately set you apart from the crowd. We must also mention that the Mission gloves Four provided are probably the most comfortable we’ve ever put our hands in. Momma commented that the synthetic Clarinoâ palm is as soft as a “baby’s behind”.
Tether Cord Attachment:
Four is the first gear we’ve ever worn that actually has a D-Ring sewn onto the pants to attach an ATV tether cord. This is an invaluable addition to Four’s line of gear. The worst thing about attaching a kill cord to your gear is that in most cases, you end up tying it to your zipper, which eventually unzips after a few minutes of riding. This leaves Momma with no other choice than to yank your pants back up in front of all your bros. That option sucks. In the past, your other option was to rig up a zip tie to a chest protector to create an attachment point to anchor your tether cord. With the intro of Four’s new D-Ring equipped gear, we no longer need to worry about getting accidently CaddyShacked by the tether cord and exposing your boys for all the world to see.
Pockets:
Storage space on riding gear has been virtually non-existent in the past. If you wanted to carry anything, you’d have to stuff it in a riding boot or hide it on the quad. The three large secured pockets give you more than enough room to pack the gum, lip balm, an extra pair of underwear, and the family photo that Momma packed for you to take on your journey. We think this additional storage space is a welcome addition to the apparel industry.
Zip-Off Legs:
Our favorite feature of this new Four Razorback gear has to be the ability to zip off the pant legs, essentially turning them into shorts. This not only gives you the opportunity to show off your hairy bird legs, scars, and knee braces. It also gives you the chance to let your legs get some fresh air, soak in the sun, and look cool all the same.
Should I Buy a Set?
If Momma Scene were able to squeeze herself into a set of the new Four Razorback gear, she most likely would. The pants are available in sizes 28-40 and the jerseys from size M-XXL. Since Momma is built more like Sweden than the Swedish bikini team, all she can do is recommend you try it out for yourself. Let’s face it, she ain’t gonna fit in this gear no matter how hard she pushes.
If you are in the market for a new set of gear and you want to buy something a little different than the typical cookie cutter gear most of us are accustomed to, the Four Razorback line might be worth looking at. The gear is the perfect balance between form and function, with a touch of machismo thrown in for good measure. Thanks to Four, looking like a geek is now left to the two-wheeled crowd and the staff of ATVScene, who are stuck wearing the casual attire Momma picked out for us to wear.
